In addition to losing to Toronto last night, Detroit also lost one of its top defensemen.

Danny DeKeyser, who played 21:23 in Wednesday’s shootout loss to the Leafs, has been sidelined with an upper-body ailment and is likely to miss Detroit’s games against Florida and Toronto on Friday and Saturday, per the Macomb Daily.

It’s unclear when DeKeyser got hurt -- he received regular shifts throughout the contest -- but the injury doesn’t appear to be serious, as GM Ken Holland hopes the blueliner will be able to return for Tuesday’s game against Columbus.

DeKeyser, 24, is having another solid year for the Red Wings, sitting second among all d-men in points (11) while averaging over 20 minutes per night.

To fill DeKeyser’s spot, Detroit has called up Xavier Ouellet from AHL Grand Rapids.
