Meet Bill Foley, the man who wants to bring the NHL to Vegas

Vegas Strip Arena-Groundbreaking

Good read here from ESPN.com’s Scott Burnside, who caught up with Bill Foley, the man who will be launching a ticket drive to gauge Las Vegas’ interest in an NHL team.

If there was a money quote, it was probably this one:

“I don’t want to see everyone in the stands with a Canucks jersey on.”

Translation: the team has to be supported by Las Vegans, not tourists.

And with no history of major-league sports to use as a baseline, Foley concedes that Sin City remains an “unproven market.”

Hence, the ticket drive.
