Video: Patrick Roy remains calm and composed, despite the losing

If Patrick Roy is worried about his Colorado Avalanche, he sure hasn’t been showing it.

The Avs lost their fourth straight last night, falling 3-0 to the Preds at home. Roughly a third of the way through the season, Colorado, sits 10 points back of a playoff spot.

Yet there was Roy, calm and composed, preaching positivity and even laughing a bit, in his post-game press conference.

Despite goalie Calvin Pickard being forced to make some “great saves” on the 36 shots he faced, Roy thought that “defensively, we had a good game.”

And despite the offensive struggles that have seen his team go from fourth in offense last season to 20th this season, Roy believes that “eventually the puck will go in.”

While Roy concedes there are areas the Avs can improve, his deportment this season, particularly given his fiery history as both player and coach, has been noteworthy.

Perhaps Roy feels an outburst would only make things worse, that the last thing the Avs need is their head coach to show signs of panic.

Perhaps he genuinely feels that things are trending in the right direction.

Regardless, if Colorado is going to get back into the playoff race, it better start staging a remarkable comeback soon*, because that’s what’s going to be needed.

The Avs host Winnipeg tomorrow.

*Actually, we wrote it needed that comeback to start three games ago.
