Less than two weeks after being fined for an illegal check to the head of T.J. Oshie, Wild defenseman Marco Scandella will have a hearing this evening with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of Islanders forward Brock Nelson.
Here’s the play, which happened last night in Minnesota:
Scandella received a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head.
The Wild play tomorrow in San Jose. It’s believed they’ll call up Justin Falk from AHL Iowa.
It’s hard to see how Scandella will escape a suspension of one or two games, given his very recent history.
