Minnesota Wild defenseman Marco Scandella has been suspended two games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his illegal check to the head of Islanders’ forward Brock Nelson Tuesday night.
Here is the reasoning for the suspension:
It’s the second time in less than two weeks that Scandella has been disciplined by the Department of Player Safety.
He was fined $2,755.38 for his illegal check to the head of T.J. Oshie on Dec. 1.
Hockey insider Darren Dreger offered his explanation on the Scandella suspension tonight:
Scandella will miss Thursday’s game in San Jose and Saturday’s game in Arizona.
He will lose $11,021.50 in salary during the suspension.
