On Wednesday, the AP reported that Lewis would take over the Belarusian national team head coaching gig, four years after he served as an assistant coach during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Lewis, 61, is best known as the successor to Scotty Bowman in Detroit following its Cup championship in 2002. Lewis achieved great regular-season success with the Wings but was fired after successive playoff disappointments; in 2006-07, he was hired as Boston’s head coach but only lasted one season before getting turfed.

Most recently, Lewis had served as an assistant coach in Carolina.
