The Colorado Avalanche has been facing the possibility Jamie McGinn’s season might be over due to a back injury, and it appears the club and head coach Patrick Roy will get official word on that next week.
From Mike Chambers of The Denver Post:
Roy told me on the side after his presser that forward Jamie McGinn will have back surgery Wednesday, and at that time the team will learn whether McGinn is done for the season. There’s a chance he could return.
McGinn, 26, hasn’t played since Nov. 15. Signed to a contract extension in June, McGinn has four goals and six points in 19 games this season.
On Friday, the depleted Avalanche, playing the final half of a back-to-back situation on the road, were crushed by the Winnipeg Jets.
