The Philadelphia Flyers are mired in a six-game losing streak, with one win in their last 11 games, but it appears there are no plans to make a change in the coaching department - at least for right now.
Flyers general manager Ron Hextall spoke to reporters about the current state of his club, including the job of head coach Craig Berube, as Philadelphia sits with a record of 8-13-4 to begin the season.
“Well, I can say this: There’s culpability from all of us - from myself, from (Berube), the assistant coaches, the players, everybody,” said Hextall.
“Everybody is in this. And we all have to do a better job. So, um, I have no plans ... on replacing the coach.”
As discussed on Thursday, it appears the Flyers might be in for a struggle in the short-term, although there very well may be hope for Hextall in the long term.
With his team currently out of a playoff spot and only four teams - Buffalo, Carolina, Columbus and Edmonton - below the Flyers in the overall NHL standings, Hextall was quick to put down the idea of tanking at some point in order to get the best possible draft position.
“We’re not getting rid of guys to try to finish first or second (worst) in the league,” said Hextall, as per NJ.com. “You guys won’t be asking that question in a couple of weeks, I believe.”
