Boone Jenner’s second of the season midway through the third period stood to be the winner as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 Monday night.

The win was the Jackets’ first since Nov. 15 snapping a six-game skid.

Columbus rookie Kerby Rychel picked up his first career NHL point on Jenner’s game winner.

“At the end of the day it’s our building. We want to capitalize on our home games for our fans,” Jenner said. "(Kerby) brought his game and was perfect for us tonight.”

Matt Calvert’s third of the season opened the scoring in the first period.

“We simplified our game and got to the net,” said Nick Foligno. “That’s the mentality we need to carry over to the next game.”

Sergei Bobrovsky made 24 saves to improve to 6-8-1 on the season.

Bobrovsky avoided injury pre-game after colliding knee-on-knee with teammate Michael Chaput.

“The guys stepped up tonight. This is the way we have to win...a 2-1 game, for me, is perfect,” said coach Todd Richards. “I would love to see more goals like (Boone’s). We need to have the mentality of getting to the paint.”

Florida rookie Aaron Ekblad had the lone Panthers goal. Al Montoya made 21 saves in the loss.
