Goaltender Ben Scrivens was in fine form post-game Friday night following the Oilers 4-3 overtime loss in St. Louis.
The loss dropped Edmonton to 0-12-2 against the Western Conference this season and stretched their streak without a win to nine games.
“The referees and St. Louis, they both had good team games out there today,” said Scrivens.
The Oilers were assessed three minor penalties; however, St. Louis’ power play was unable to capitalize while Edmonton did not have a man advantage opportunity in the game.
Scrivens made 37 saves while seeing his record drop to 4-9-2 on the season.
The 28-year-old netminder was asked post-game if he felt his team deserved a better fate, despite mustering just six shots combined in the first and third periods.
“No I don’t think so,” Scrivens answered. “I think we’re getting what we deserve right now. I don’t think we’re playing good enough to win in the NHL.”
Edmonton (6-14-4) has two days to regroup before they play host to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday.
“Personally, all you can do is give the guys a chance, try and battle and stop as many as you can,” said Scrivens. “I thought (Viktor Fasth) did a fantastic job of that (Thursday). I thought I did a pretty good job of it today. As a team, we got to figure out... I mean you look at our second period, if we play games like that, then we win games. If we play games like the first, the third and overtime, then we lose games.
“It’s unbelievable it’s taking us this long to figure it out.”
