Andrei Loktionov

Former NHL forward Andrei Loktionov has signed on with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL, the club announced on Friday.

Loktionov, 24, split last season between Carolina and New Jersey, scoring seven goals and 22 points in 68 games. The former fifth-round pick (Los Angeles, 2008) had appeared in 155 career NHL contests with the Kings, Devils and ‘Canes; according to his agent, five NHL teams had reportedly expressed an interest in signing Loktionov this season, but none of the deals came to fruition.

Loktionov isn’t the only ex-NHLer to join Lokomotiv. Petri Kontiola, who signed with the Leafs this summer but failed to make the team out of training camp, has also signed on with the Russian side. Kontiola had made 12 NHL appearances prior to signing in Toronto, all of them coming with Chicago during the 2007-08 campaign.
