Remparts sold to Quebecor, will move to new Quebec City arena

The Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have been purchased by communications company Quebecor, which says the team will move out of the Colisée Pepsi, the old home of the Quebec Nordiques, and into Quebec City’s new arena, Quebecor Arena, in September of 2015.

Did we mention this team plays in Quebec?

“The arena belongs to the people of Quebec City, and we felt it was crucial to offer them hockey as soon as it opens,” Quebecor CEO Pierre Dion said in a release.

Of course, that new arena has also fueled speculation that the NHL could one day return to Quebec City, perhaps owned by Quebecor.

The Remparts’ outgoing ownership group includes its former coach and GM, Patrick Roy.
