Vancouver’s Jannik Hansen, Detroit’s Tomas Tatar and Dallas’ Jamie Benn have been named the NHL’s three starts for the week ending Nov. 23.
Hansen led the NHL with five goals, converting on 71.4% of his shots (5-of-7) to power the Canucks (14-6-1, 29 points) to five of a possible six standings points.
Tatar tied for second in the League with 4-1-5, including two game-winning goals, to lead the Red Wings (10-5-5, 25 points) to two victories in three starts.
Benn led the NHL with 3-3-6, including a pair of multi-point games, to propel the Stars (8-9-4, 20 points) to two wins in three outings.
The big story of the week has to be Hansen, the oft-maligned winger who has blossomed playing on Vancouver’s fourth line alongside Derek Dorsett and rookie Bo Horvat. Early in the year, there were rumblings the Danish winger could be a healthy scratch given his reduced role in head coach Willie Desjardins’ system; Hansen played less than 10 minutes in each of Vancouver’s first three games of the season.
