Vancouver Canucks winger Daniel Sedin will play his 1,000th NHL regular season game on Sunday.

The 34-year-old spoke about the milestone as the Canucks ready for a road contest against the Chicago Blackhawks:

Daniel will likely be in a better mood than Henrik Sedin was when he hit his 1,000th game played, as he was in a slump and things weren’t going very well for the Canucks in general back in March. Here’s a quick comparison of the Sedin twins, because there’s no sense avoiding such an action, right?

Daniel: 311 goals, 514 assists for 825 points in 999 games; 67 points in 96 playoff contests.

Henrik: 198 goals, 664 assists for 862 points in 1030 games; 74 points in 99 playoff contests.

(It’s fitting that their points-per-game are nearly identical, as Daniel is at .83 and Henrik slightly edges him with .84, although “The Shooting Sedin” gets bonus points for a significant edge in tallies.)

The Sedin twins are in the first year of contracts that carry a $7 million cap hit and won’t expire until after the 2017-18 season. Health permitting, it looks it won’t be too long until we talk about another 1,000 milestone for the two: points.
