The Vancouver Canucks lost defenseman Dan Hamhuis to a significant lower-body injury that will sideline him for months, not weeks, according to PHT’s Dhiren Mahiban.
One bit of promising news amid this grim update regarding the 2014 Canadian Olympic team member: Mahiban reports that it isn’t expected to be a season-ending injury.
Hamhuis, 31, seemed to suffer his injury when his skate might have gotten caught in a rough spot in the ice. He was injured early on against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, as he only logged 19 seconds of ice time in that game. Here’s video of the unfortunate moment:
Hamhuis has seen a decline in ice times and his possession stats haven’t been as impressive as usual this season, but this could still be a tough loss for a Vancouver team that’s off to a pretty impressive start in 2014-15.
The team recalled Frank Corrado in his absence.
