Was it a fight? Or was it a sucker punch?

As the final seconds ticked away in overtime between the Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets, Dalton Prout dropped Milan Lucic with a heavy right hand. Lucic fell to one knee and was furious with what happened. He threw a left punch of his own as the linesman intervened and then tossed a glove.

The two came together after exchanging some shoves near the corner. Prout dropped his gloves. Lucic didn’t. The result was Lucic getting hit with that punch. Oh yeah, the Bruins completed the comeback, winning the game in the shootout.

“As soon as he grabbed me by the collar and looked away … it’s on. We’re both guys who have been in altercations,” Prout told Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.

“It’s flipping switches. As far as I was concerned we were engaged in a fight. I have no idea what he was screaming,” Prout continued.
