Some clarity, at least financially, regarding the Slava Voynov situation -- on Friday, the NHL announced the Kings would receive relief of Voynov’s $4.16 million cap hit while he remains suspended indefinitely following a domestic violence felony charge.

The National Hockey League announced today that the existing terms of its suspension of Los Angeles Kings’ Player Slava Voynov will be continued indefinitely.
However, in light of the uncertain and potentially extended period of time that the legal process may entail, the NHL and NHLPA have agreed to permit the Kings to replace Mr. Voynov’s Salary and Bonuses pursuant to the Bona Fide Long-Term Injury Exception under the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Kings GM Dean Lombardi has been critical of the NHL’s handling of the financial side of things; Voynov has missed the last 14 games while L.A. has been forced to absorb his cap hit, which has resulted in a couple of instances of the club playing shorthanded.
Head coach Darryl Sutter has also been vocal in his displeasure of Drew Doughty’s increased workload, though some of that has to do with injuries on the back end as well.
