PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.
It’s tough not to feel bad for Toronto Maple Leafs fans, observers, bloggers and the media types who aren’t just licking their lips at their latest debacle. Through thick and (mostly) thin, many have provided some humorous takes on the Leafs’ many letdowns, and last night was no exception.
Editor’s Note: Pro Hockey Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $15,000 Fantasy Hockey league for Wednesday’s NHL games. It’s just $2 to join and first prize is $1,400. Starts Wednesday at 8pm ET. Here’s the FanDuel link.
One great reaction to the “are the Leafs trying to get Randy Carlyle fired?” questions:

Oof, just oof:

The Globe & Mail’s James Mirtle is one of the team’s most lucid observers, so when he’s dropping these comments (or just images), you know things are bad:
63 games to go!

Marco “Hope Smoke” Perruzza provided quite the venting session this morning, so check out his feed for all of the well-placed anger. Here are a couple highlights:
Pension Plan Puppets’ message is simple enough: “Just Fire Carlyle Already.” (PPP)
No collection of angry/sad reactions is complete without a tabloid slant:

Finally, Steve Dangle is losing his patience, but we’ve gained his great “Gollum” impression.
