Video: Girgensons’ goal waived off over goalie interference

Ennis interference

At least for a little bit longer, San Jose Sharks goaltender Troy Grosenick’s career-opening shutout streak is intact. After turning aside 45 shots against Carolina on Sunday, he got the start against the Buffalo Sabres tonight.

Zemgus Girgensons took a shot that found the back of the net midway through the first period, but it didn’t count because Tyler Ennis ran into Grosenick, preventing him from participating in the play. Ennis got a two minute minor for goalie interference.

You can see that event below:

The San Jose Sharks also had a goal waived off before the end of the first frame. In their case it was ruled that Justin Braun made incidental contact. There was no score after 20 minutes.
