Coyotes put Gormley on IR, recall recently-waived Schlemko

The Arizona Coyotes made a move to replace Brandon Gormley on Tuesday, recalling veteran blueliner David Schlemko from AHL Portland.

Gormley, 22, was the club’s first-round pick (13th overall) at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. After failing to make the team out of training camp he was recalled in early November and went on to appear in six games, scoring his first-ever NHL goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Edmonton -- which he left with an apparent lower-body injury.

Per the Arizona Republic, he’s been placed on injured reserve.

Schlemko, who was placed on waivers four days ago, will be back up with the club for tonight’s game against Washington. The 27-year-old has been with the ‘Yotes since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2007, but has been a healthy scratch on a number of occasions this season.

Schlemko’s most recent game for Arizona came last Thursday, when he played 17 minutes in a 5-3 loss to Calgary.

Update:

Head Coach Dave Tippett says @bgormley33 will be out at least a week w/ lower-body injury & @Bobbyklink is day-to-day w/ upper-body injury.
