More bad injury news for the Avs on Tuesday, as the club announced defenseman Ryan Wilson would be lost for the season following shoulder surgery.

Wilson, who’s battled extensive health problems over the last few seasons, first hurt the shoulder during an late-October loss to Florida and was originally estimated to be out 2-3 weeks.

The 27-year-old rearguard has his entire professional career with the Avs organization but only appeared in three games this year, posting a minus-3 rating. Despite a laundry list of injuries over the last three years, Wilson was effective when healthy and, from 2009-12, racked up 58 points in 187 games.

News of his loss comes within hours of Colorado announcing that No. 1 netminder Semyon Varlamov is day-to-day with a groin injury, his second groin-related ailment of the young season.
