Zach Parise sat out five Minnesota Wild games with a concussion and now that he’s healthy, he’s making up for lost time.
It took him just 4:11 minutes to score his first goal of the game:
Mikko Koivu assisted on the goal, giving him two points in his last three contests after getting off to a slow start this season. Parise found the back of the net again late in the first frame to give the Wild a 3-0 lead.
Falling behind early is particularly problematic for the Jets given that the first period is typically their best 20 minutes. Winnipeg has been out scored 24 to 17 after the first period this season and they’re 1-4-0 when trailing going into the first intermission.
