Video: Halak makes bizarre save with shoulder, neck

Halak

Jaroslav Halak might have made one of the weirdest saves of the season tonight.

Late in the second period with the Islanders up 2-1, Halak stopped a backhanded shot from Florida’s Aleksander Barkov, but the puck traveled up his arm and was in danger of slipping into the net. Halak hit the puck upwards with his shoulder though and then jammed it between his neck or shoulder and the crossbar.

The play was reviewed and it was ruled no goal:

The Islanders goaltender went on to stop 35 of 38 shots in regulation in a 4-3 shootout win.
