Christian Folin, Minnesota’s prized college free agent signing from a year ago, has been sent down to AHL Iowa. In a related move, the Wild called up veteran d-man Justin Falk.

Folin, 23, was a highly-coveted prospect that inked with the Wild (after 15-20 NHL teams reportedly expressed interest) following two successful seasons with UMass-Lowell. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Folin had the size and skillset to make his NHL debut last season -- appearing in one game -- and made the Wild out of training camp this year.

The Swedish blueliner has appeared in eight contests this season, going scoreless while averaging 14:10 TOI per night. He played just over 11 minutes in Thursday’s 6-3 win over Buffalo.
