Coyotes waive veteran d-man Schlemko

DavidSchlemko

Arizona placed defenseman David Schlemko -- one of the longest-tenured players on the roster -- on waivers Friday, the day after he played nearly 17 minutes in a 5-3 loss to Calgary.

Schlemko, 27, has been with the Coyotes organization since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He made his NHL debut the following year and has gone on to appear in 194 contests for Arizona, though he was a healthy scratch in the five games prior to last night’s defeat to the Flames.

The WHL Medicine Hat product’s best season came in 2010-11, when he posted a career-high 14 points in 43 games and scored his first and only postseason goal.

Maloney confirmed Schlemko has been put on waivers but no further comment at this time. Might get more clarity if/when clears.
