A four-game losing streak isn’t going to force the Minnesota Wild into risking the long-term health of Zach Parise.
Per the Star Tribune, Parise (concussion) is unlikely to play tonight against the lowly Sabres.
“We just have to be smart about it,” coach Mike Yeo said. “We know what he adds to our lineup, but you just have to think of the big picture here. We have to make sure when we get him back that we’re keeping him back for good.”
The Wild have scored just three times in their last four games, even though racking up shots (124) hasn’t been a problem.
While Parise’s finishing ability will be missed, tonight is expected to feature the Wild debut of forward Jordan Schroeder, the former Gophers star who signed with the club this summer and has 11 points (4G, 7A) in 12 games this season with AHL Iowa.
Schroeder was apparently skating with two other University of Minnesota alums, Thomas Vanek and Erik Haula, in this morning’s on-ice session.
New lines: Zucker-Koivu-Pominville; Nino-Granlund-Coyle; Schroeder-Haula-Vanek (all Gopher); Carter-Brodziak-Fontaine
