Seabrook is out of Coach Q’s doghouse

Joel Quenneville is happy his message got through to Brent Seabrook.

Per CSN Chicago, the Blackhawks’ coach said that his veteran defenseman had a “real good game” Sunday in a win over San Jose, two days after having quite the opposite versus Washington, a 3-2 loss that the ‘Hawks once led 2-0.

Seabrook only played 17:13 versus the Sharks, a consequence of an admittedly “stupid pinch” versus the Capitals...

...that, in Seabrook’s own words, “created momentum for them and that’s something you can’t do. It was just a stupid play.”

Seabrook was demoted to the third pairing for the San Jose game, but according to Quenneville, could be back skating with Duncan Keith tonight at home to Tampa Bay.

“There are different ways to get guys’ attention,” said Quenneville. “Everyone wants to play well and we want everyone to play well and we want to get the best out of everyone on a game-by-game basis. Sometimes you have to do things, you have to make tough decisions. But at the end of the day we want everyone to be consistent and predictable, particularly our defensemen.”
