Cal Heeter, the former Flyers farmhand that made his NHL debut last season, has signed a tryout with KHL club Medvescak Zagreb.

The 26-year-old heads overseas after failing to catch on with Toronto during training camp (he joined the Leafs on a professional tryout in mid-September). Heeter, an Ohio State product, played briefly with the Marlies this season before landing in ECHL Evansville; the majority of his professional career has been spent at the American League level, including his career-best ’13-14 campaign in which he played in 44 games, posting a 2.65 GAA and .912 save percentage.

As mentioned above, Heeter also made his big-league debut during the ’13-14 season, allowing five goals on 38 shots in a 6-5 shootout loss to Carolina.
