Video: Roussel runs over Sharks goalie Stalock, mayhem ensues

Antoine Roussel can - how do we say this kindly? - get under the collective skin of the opposition. The San Jose Sharks know all about that.

In fact, the Sharks were downright furious with the Dallas Stars forward for his actions late in the third period of Saturday’s game.

As San Jose goalie Alex Stalock went to play the puck outside of his crease, Roussel came in and hit Stalock, knocking him over. Mayhem ensued, as Sharks’ defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic rushed to the scene and immediately went after Roussel, causing a massive scrum to break out.

Roussel was given a penalty for goalie interference and a misconduct.

The Sharks, down 3-1 after 40 minutes and a Tyler Seguin hat trick - rallied in the third. Oh boy did they rally. San Jose scored four times, including a pair from Brent Burns, to erase that two-goal deficit and finish with a 5-3 victory. The Stars have now lost seven in a row, though they have two overtime losses in that span.

However, the incident toward the end of the game was a major talking point afterward.

It was also reported that Roussel took a cheap shot at Justin Braun during the scrum.

“What disappoints me is when a guy (Braun) is vulnerable and being held and he gets punched. That’s the disappointing thing,” Sharks coach Todd McLellan said, as per CSN Bay Area.

“I don’t think anybody in our league, the 750 players and coaches want to see that. It’s just not a classy moment.”
