After Gustav Nyquist scored 28 goals and 48 points in 57 games in 2013-14, the question surrounding him going into this season was if he could hope to maintain that pace. So far, he’s been just as effective in 2014-15 from a goal scoring perspective.
Nyquist had been held off the scoresheet in four straight contests going into tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but he showed off his moves midway through the third period, skating around the Lightning until he was in position to beat goaltender Ben Bishop.
That was his eighth goal of the campaign and it bought the Red Wings at least one point tonight as the game was sent to overtime.
