Just a few weeks after making his National Hockey League debut for the Philadelphia Flyers, Shayne Gostisbehere is now out indefinitely with torn ACL, the club announced Saturday.

The 21-year-old Gostisbehere, who appeared in two games for Philadelphia since getting recalled on Oct. 24, will now have surgery on Nov. 13, according to the Flyers.

In two NHL games with the Flyers, Gostisbehere saw an average of just over 12 minutes of ice time, leaving a favorable impressive on general manager Ron Hextall, even though the young blue liner was recently dispatched back to the American Hockey League.

“We wanted him to play in the minors and this doesn’t help the cause, but it’s the hand he is dealt and he will deal with it,” Hextall told CSN Philadelphia.

“He’s a good kid, he works hard and he’ll get back as quick as possible and build on what he’s done so far. Every experience you go through makes you stronger.

Earlier in the day, it was reported the Flyers will welcome previously injured defenseman Braydon Coburn to the lineup against the Colorado Avalanche.
