The Washington Capitals could be without forward Tom Wilson for the third period of Saturday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Wilson left the game in the second period with what the club called a lower-body injury, and his return to the game was questionable, according to the club’s public relations Twitter account. Wilson did not return to the game.

According to the Time on Ice statistics, Wilson’s last shift lasted 1:52 long. It was also early in the middle period. The Capitals led the Hurricanes 3-1 through 40 minutes.

The 20-year-old Wilson, Washington’s first-round draft pick in 2012, has one goal and three points in five games this season with the Capitals.

Updated: According to Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington, the injury Wilson suffered Saturday is “apparently” not related his surgically repaired ankle.
