Video: Evander Kane engages in spirited fight with Despres

Midway through the second period of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 4-3 shootout victory over the Winnipeg Jets last night, things got heated between Jets forward Mark Scheifele and Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. The Penguins naturally raced to the defense of their goaltender and the remaining Jets promptly followed suit. Amid the pushing, Evander Kane and Simon Despres broke from the main group to engage in a sparring match.

The two combatants removed their helmets, which led to each player taking an extra penalty, and while the fight started slow, it got heated towards the end.

Despres is tied for the league-lead in fights with four, according to hockeyfights.com. He also had a goal in the contest, but it was Kane that managed to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick.
