Coburn would ‘love to play’ tomorrow versus Avs

Braydon Coburn wants to return to the Flyers’ lineup tomorrow evening at home versus Colorado. But he hasn’t been told if he will.

“I’d love to play,” the veteran defenseman said, per CSN Philly. “If I am in, I am in. I feel I am almost there, for sure.”

Coburn has only played once this season. He hurt his foot on Oct. 8 and has been out ever since.

CSN Philly has more:

Coburn was supposed to be in the lineup in Chicago on Oct. 21, but pulled himself out after warmups that night to the surprise of the coaching staff. He was experiencing too much pain in the foot.

That setback resulted in him being shut down until this past Monday, when he skated for the first time since Chicago.

What’s the difference from then to now?

“Big difference, everything from putting full weight on, turning, skating on both feet,” he said with a laugh. “The extra bit of rest and extra treatments really helped a lot.”

The decision on Coburn’s status for the Avalanche game won’t be made until tomorrow morning. If he’s able to play, it’s not clear who would come out of the lineup. New addition Carlo Colaiacovo logged 16:56 of ice time in yesterday’s 4-1 win over the Panthers.
