Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik has left Toronto’s game in Colorado after colliding with Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda.

The 29-year-old hit his head awkwardly on the ice and was taken off on a stretcher.

Daniel Winnik is alert and moving. He is currently being evaluated by the Leafs’ team doctor. #TMLtalk

Winnik spent two seasons in Colorado (2010-12) appearing in 142 games with the Avalanche.
