The New York Rangers are expected to get d-man Kevin Klein (foot) back into the lineup tonight against Detroit and to facilitate the return, Dylan McIlrath has been sent back to AHL Hartford.

McIlrath, the club’s first-round pick (10th overall) at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, made his season debut (and third appearance of his career) in Monday’s 4-3 shootout loss to St. Louis and while he only played 8:02, the 6-foot-5 rearguard showed up on a number of highlight packages.

Getting Klein back is a boon for the Rangers, who are also getting some encouraging news on other health fronts. Per TSN, Derek Stepan could return over the weekend and Dan Boyle might be back by next week.
