During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Eddie Giacomin was one of the best goaltenders in the league. He ranks third on the New York Rangers’ all-time wins list with 266, but his tenure with the franchise ended unceremoniously in 1975 when he was put on waivers. The fan favorite was claimed by the Detroit Red Wings and the reaction when he played in Madison Square Garden a couple days later was intense.
