The upper-body injury Zach Parise suffered in last night’s loss to Pittsburgh will prevent him from traveling on the team’s upcoming road trip, head coach Mike Yeo confirmed on Wednesday.

The trip, which begins on Thursday in Ottawa, will see Minnesota play three road games in six nights with stops in Montreal and New Jersey.

Yeo: “We’re going to have to respond. They’re not going to feel sorry for us. There will be guys given new opportunities.” #MNWild

The loss is a big one. Parise, an alternate captain, has been a huge part of the Wild’s 7-4-0 start to the year, scoring 10 points in the 11 games while averaging over 18 minutes a night.

Minnesota also hasn’t been especially good on the road this year. Three of its four losses have come away from the friendly confines of the Xcel Energy Center, though those defeats did come against quality opposition in the Ducks, Kings and Rangers.
