Detroit Red Wings fans at Joe Louis Arena stood up, and cheered their support for the legendary Gordie Howe, who is recovering from a recent stroke.
Fans held up signs that read ‘Get Well Gordie,’ while chants of ‘Gordie! Gordie!’ broke out during a stoppage in play in the first period of Friday’s game between the Red Wings and visiting L.A. Kings.
Howe, 86, suffered a stroke on Sunday and was resting at his daughter’s house. As the week progressed, it was reported that Howe, also known as Mr. Hockey, was showing signs of improvement.
