Canucks forward Alex Burrows caught Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin with a late hit during the second period in Vancouver Thursday night.

The hit, which appeared high, led to the Canucks’ first goal of the game.

Emelin was helped off the ice and left the game. There was no penalty on the play.

Update: Emelin returned to start the third.

During his post-game scrum, Burrows was glad to see the Habs defenseman return.

Burrows has never been suspended in his career, though Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos believes Burrows could be hearing from Senior Vice President of Player Safety, Stephane Quintal.

Burrows has been fined twice by the league.

In the spring of 2009, Burrows received a $2,500 fine from the league for punching then Oilers enforcer Zach Stortini from the bench.

During the 2009-10 season Burrows was fined $2,500 for criticizing referee Stephane Auger.
