Sheldon Brookbank, the gritty blueliner that won a Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2013, has signed on to play with Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL, the club announced on Friday.
Brookbank, 34, is a veteran of over 300 NHL contests with the Predators, Devils, Ducks and Blackhawks. His best season came during the 2011-12 campaign, when he set career highs in games (80) and points (14) for the Ducks, which led to him inking a two-year deal with Chicago.
Brookbank wasn’t brought back to the Windy City this year, though, and failed to latch on in Calgary after attending camp on a PTO.
