St. Louis forward David Backes wasn’t able to complete Tuesday’s game after taking a scary fall early in the contest. Now the Blues just have to hope his injury isn’t serious.
Backes and Stars forward defenseman Daley accidentally collided into each other and Backes’ leg was taken out from under him. He spun in the air and landed on his shoulder. Perhaps most troubling, his head appeared to hit the ice as well.
You can see that below:
The Blues called it an upper-body injury when they ruled him out for the remainder of the contest. Backes had gotten off to a strong start this season with two goals and five points in seven games.
Daley stayed in the game and went on to score a power-play goal in the third period.
Update: Backes will be re-evaluated tomorrow, according to the team’s website.
