Benoit Pouliot’s first goal in an Oilers jersey at 19:41 of the first period stood to be the game-winner as Edmonton blanked the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 Monday night.

The Oilers, who went winless in its’ first five games of the season, have now won four straight for the first time since March 26 - April 3, 2013.

Nail Yakupov picked up his second of the season while Taylor Hall added his team-leading sixth into an empty net.

Ben Scrivens made 29 saves for his seventh career shutout.

Dustin Tokarski made 15 saves in the loss.

The Oilers win was their first over the Canadiens, in Edmonton, since February 2011.

Edmonton rookie Leon Draisaitl logged 12:50 in time on ice in the win. Monday was his ninth game of the season.

If he dresses Wednesday when the Oilers play host to the Nashville Predators, he will burn the first year of his entry-level contract. The Oilers could still send him back to the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League without burning Year 1 as of right now.

The Habs lost for just the second time this season and saw their win streak snapped at four games.

Montreal, who had out-scored opponents 10-6 in the third period this season, had 12 shots on goal in the final frame, but were unable to solve Scrivens.

The Canadiens have little time to dissect the loss as they continue their three-game road trip Tuesday in Calgary.
