Kulemin booted for boarding, Jets score twice on power-play

Kulemin boarding

New York Islanders forward Nikolay Kulemin checked Winnipeg’s Mark Stuart from behind early in second period of Tuesday’s game and Stuart fell forward into the boards as a result. Stuart is fortunately okay, but Kulemin received a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.

You can see what happened below:

The Jets were down 1-0 going into the second frame, but they made the Islanders pay for Kulemin’s actions.

Andrew Ladd scored less than minute into the power play thanks to some sustained pressure by the Jets around the Islanders’ net:

With the game now tied, Paul Postma squeezed the puck past goaltender Jaroslav Halak towards the four-minute mark of the power play:

That hasn’t taken the Islanders out of the contest though as they still managed to enter the second intermission tied 3-3.
