Brent Burns shifted from forward back to the blueline for the 2014-15 campaign and so far that hasn’t slowed him down from an offensive perspective. Early in his 10th game of the season, Burns gave the San Jose Sharks a 1-0 lead with this quick goal off the draw:
That was Burns third goal and 10th point of the season. No other defenseman has more than eight points.
That matches the 10 points Burns had through his first 10 contests in 2013-14, although he had five goals in that stretch. It also took him until Nov. 23 to reach the 10-game mark last season because he suffered an upper-body injury.
In addition to chipping in offensively, Burns has logged a team-high 23:14 minutes per contest with the Sharks and has helped kill penalties. The Sharks almost always kept Burns off the ice when they were shorthanded last season.
