Defenseman Ryan Murray is set to make his regular season debut when the Columbus Blue Jackets visit the L.A. Kings today.
Murray has been activated off of injured reserve the club announced.
The 21-year-old has been sidelined to start the season due to off-season knee surgery.
The Regina, Saskatchewan native had four goals and 21 points in 66 regular season games during his rookie season in 2013-14.
In a corresponding move the team has assigned Alexander Wennberg to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Wennberg, 20, appeared in seven games for Columbus this season picking up his first career point in his NHL debut Oct. 9.
Murray wasn’t the only player activated by the Blue Jackets Sunday. Earlier in the day goaltender Curtis McElhinney was added to the active roster.
Columbus Dispatch reporter Aaron Portzline says forward Cam Atkinson, who suffered a skate cut on his right eyelid Friday night, will not play today.
