Sharks center Tommy Wingels caught Buffalo Sabres captain Brian Gionta with a dangerous looking hit midway through the first period of this afternoon’s game in San Jose.
Gionta was able to skate away from the hit without injury and remains in the game.
Wingels was not assessed a penalty on the play.
