Pierre-Edouard Bellemare had been waiting a long time for this.
Originally from France and after years of playing professionally in Sweden, Bellemare scored his first National Hockey League goal on Wednesday - at the age of 29. It came off a deflection from a quick rush up the ice, giving the Philadelphia Flyers a 2-1 lead in the back half of the first period against the rival Pittsburgh Penguins.
Stick on the ice, kids.
There’s also a little bit of history here, too:
Per @EliasSports: Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, 29, is oldest @NHLFlyers player to score his 1st NHL goal since Jiri Dopita, 32, on Nov 15, 2001
