Taylor Hall went for the puck. Ryan Callahan went for the body.
Callahan, the Tampa Bay Lightning forward, caught Edmonton Oilers star Hall with a heavy but clean body check behind the net and into the end boards during the first period of Monday’s only NHL game.
Callahan entered the game with some strong offensive numbers early on in the season, with three goals and five points in five games. This time he was the one lowering the boom on Edmonton’s most dangerous scorer.
