Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Curtis McElhinney made his season debut on Saturday, but he only lasted about a period and a half before he was forced to leave the game with a head/neck injury.

The incident occurred when teammate Nick Foligno accidentally crashed into his netminder:

It’s not yet known if McElhinney will travel with the Blue Jackets for their upcoming three-game stint in California, but Columbus has already taken the step of summoning goaltender Anton Forsberg, per the Columbus Dispatch’s Shawn Mitchell.

Forsberg should join the team in time for Monday’s practice. The 21-year-old has played in Sweden’s top league, but he only has seven games worth of AHL experience in North America. If McElhinney isn’t available, the Blue Jackets will have to decide if they want Sergei Bobrovsky to play on back-to-back nights on Thursday and Friday or if they feel comfortable letting Forsberg make his NHL debut.
